    1. You really can't put I down. At first it looks like something that could be just an occasional read, you know the ones, you're guilty of doing that a book or two. But the more you tread on the more you just want to get through the main characters frustration. You really easily became the main character.

    2. Under the Stars by Rebecca A. Rogers Release Date: August 1, 2011ISBN13: 97803856715385/5 Stars!Summary: Most of the Earth has been ruined in the War of Desolation recently, leaving a planet very different from the one we know. Andrina, her mother, and her little brother Mattie are in search of a city where they can live and survive. The earth is under constant barrage of falling stars, and starvation and poverty is rampant. She befriends a gypsy boy and a group ends up finally making it to the [...]

    3. Not all fairytales end happily - but there's beauty in their demise. Andrina agrees to marry the King of the New World only to keep her family and people of Legora supplied with the necessities to survive the world that’s crumbling outside their dome-protected city. But when her husband is murdered beside her in the night, all fingers point toward Andrina, even though she has nothing to gain and everything to lose.I won't say anything more because I don't wanna give anything away, but Andrina' [...]

    4. I highly recommend this book for anyone FTC: I received a free copy of this book and was not reimbursed in any other way.

    5. Originally posted at Fragments of Life.4.5For Andrina, family comes first. That’s what I liked most about her. She would do absolutely anything for Mama and her little brother, Mattie. Nothing compares to her dedication to them. She’s loyal, protective and brave. Above all, she’s a survivor. The setting of Under the Stars was fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Majority of the world was desert. The sun scorched the people’s skin and the moon brought biting cold with it. Insects a [...]

    6. This is one of the greatest stories I've read in awhile! The story is from the point of view of protagonist, Andrina. She was a very strong female character; similar, in my eyes, to one of my absolute favorite fictional characters: Buffy Summers of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Andrina was brave and stood up for what she believed in, but Rogers never let you forget that Andrina was only a 17-year-old girl with teenage thoughts and at times, a teenage attitude. I found that very important [...]

    7. From Lovey Dovey BooksIt’s true: fairy tales don’t always have happy endings, and Ms. Rogers has written a truly heart wrenching story, set in a post-apocalyptic world. What makes it so saddening is how well I came to know Andrina and her family and friends. The events of the story became so much more personal.Andrina was strong spirited and brave, putting others before her every step of the way, even when she was scared. What 17 year old has to endure the kinds of trials she had to? Malik h [...]

The characters were strong and well described. The plot, storyline and events were well written. The book had me turning pages until late into the night! I could only hope for a sequel! I reco [...]

    9. The author is able to make you imagine a world of struggle physically and emotionally for the characters involved, even the ones who didn't seem to have the same cares. I can't say more without spoilers. The books makes you wonder, what was in store for the characters if other choices had been made. Would the ending have been the same?

    10. This book is wonderful, thoughtful and sad. It touched me.I just cried and cried.I need a little time to brace myself up.I won this book in a giveway - thank You Marilee! (bookblatherblog/And very thank You Rebecca for this wonderful book! <3

    11. Really enjoyed reading this book. It is has a tragic ending yet it is a refreshing end to the book as well. With so many romantic happy ending books out there to read it was nice to have a sad end. :)

    12. HUGE plot holes! I kept expecting the plot holes to be filled in - they weren't. An apocalyptic, world changing event happened at some point within the last 10-15 years. Somehow, they have already managed to set up a completely new society in that short time frame. They have established cities/villages, a King and there are new laws in place. It has been less than one generation since the apocalypse and they already refer to the pre apocalypse world as the "old world". Somehow, almost all of the [...]

    13. I'm not sure how to review this book. To begin with I quickly connected to the main character and thought I was really going to like it. Then the writing, along with the mother character (seemed to have a bit of split personality disorder to me) started to wear me down. The content is YA, but the writing feels middle grader. I'm not sure if it's the language It just seemed a bit stilted and simple and a little shallow in parts. However, toward the end I really did get into it and was turning pag [...]

    14. The premise, although not original, was supported by a plot that was fairly well laid out, with good pacing and presentation. Maybe because it has a very simple fairly straightforward plot, with predictable character types, or maybe because of the style of storytelling, “Under the Stars” has a strong juvenile taste to it.I’m glad it’s a stand-alone novel. However, with the ending as it is, I found myself hoping (for a moment there) that there will be a sequel. On the whole, I’m not dis [...]

    15. Under the Stars was not what I was expecting. At all.I am fortunate that I did not read the blurb before reading, or the entire plot is given away. Literally. Apart from the ending, the blurb is just a summary. Awful. That being said, I did enjoy the book. I found Andy relatable enough, although her 'relationship' with Malik was drawn out. In truth, the entire story feels drawn out, as if it could be undertaken in half the pages with the same effect.Oh well, it wasn't awful, and it only cost me 6 [...]

    16. This book was awful. The first couple chapters were great and showed promise and then it went nowhere. The parts that could have been interesting were skipped over in a few sentences. Andrina is a 17 year old with way too much on her plate and no one tried to help her. Not even her mother. The ending was pretty rushed and made no sense to how it came about. The writing was very simplistic. I wasted my time reading this,

    17. The writing wasn't great (and needed a better editor), but the world building had it's interesting point. The dialogue/accent for Daphne was unbelievably bad. Also, the story was just too short. It felt really rushed and I'm not exactly sure the exact point of the story. Unlike many others, I liked the ending because it was realistic and took guts to write.

    18. Not a bad book, but just so-so for me. I had a hard time wanting to finish it. The story would just sort of drag.

    19. This is a difficult one for me. I really like the story but I am not sure how I feel about the ending. It was not a happy ending and definitely not what I expected.
